JANET

Janet has been a paralegal for over 20 years. She initially worked for a firm that specialized in estate planning, but primarily handled workers’ compensation and other insurance defense matters.  The office was situated in a bustling northern coastal city, offering views of the harbor and the working waterfront from her desk windows.

Janet and her husband moved their family to North Carolina over 15 years ago, as they were growing tired of the northern winters and believed there would be better opportunities for their children as they got older.  They found their home in Cabarrus County and have been here since.

Janet worked as a paralegal at a plaintiff's defense firm and found that this was a better fit for her, as she enjoys working for the “other side.”  Most of the attorneys she worked for specialized in workers’ compensation, long-term and short-term disability, medical malpractice, estate planning, and estate administration.  Although she enjoyed the diversity, she particularly enjoyed the estate planning and estate administration aspects of the job. 

What is your perfect Starbucks order?

My favorite Starbucks orders are honey citrus mint tea in the winter and mango dragon fruit lemonade refresher for the rest of the year.

What is your 15 minutes of fame?

My 15 minutes of fame were spent on a local TV show called Romper Room for two weeks.

Live plants or fake plants?

Fake plants in the office, live plants at home.

If you didn’t have to work, what would you do with your time?

If I didn’t have to work, I think I would foster dogs, help out at a local shelter and nonprofit, and travel with my family to add more stamps to my passport.
